The New Year is just around the corner, which means we’re all starting to think about the changes we want to make personally, and professionally for 2018.
A lot of us amp ourselves up for changes in the New Year, but how many of us actually follow through with them?
This year, take the initiative and ensure you’re starting a successful year. Read the following article and learn 4 ways you can put yourself in the best mindset to grow success.
Make personal development a priority
It’s a no-brainer that if you want to make changes in your professional life, and personal life, you need to make personal development a priority. Before 2018 creeps up, take a time to flush out some goals you would like to reach for the upcoming year.
Getting introspective, and taking the time to enhance yourself personally will be the first steps in rewiring your brain to be as successful as you’d like in the New Year.
There are a few different ways you can tackle this, but the easiest way I’ve done it in the past has been flushing out your personal developments, as well as your professional ones.
It’s important to distinguish these, and make sure you separate your professional objectives from your personal ones. If they are interconnected in some capacity, they can be included in both categories – however making your personal objectives clear and different from your business objectives will help with clarity, direction as well as your follow through.
Take on new challenges and adventures
Sure, you can have the same goals and developmental objectives that you have every year, but why not get a little adventurous and try something new?
A lot of Realtors stick with the same developmental objectives they had the previous year especially when it comes to real estate lead generation. Getting comfortable with objectives can be a really dangerous thing, especially when you settle into a winning number you want to hit for the end of your year.
“I keep hitting my goal of 25 sales a year, so I’ll probably stick with that”
How are you going to get better, and forward your career if you’re consistently shooting for stagnant results?
Instead of shooting for the same results each year – maybe try adding a few more closures to your goal. Instead of 25…shoot for 30! It’s attainable, and more than your previous year. Even if you don’t hit this goal, you’ll have beat your previous goal of 25…so what’s the harm in trying?
Take charge
It’s your career and your life, so make the decisions!
A lot of people make choices based on others, which makes sense when you have to consider a significant other or your family. But when it comes to your career…you should be able to call the shots, right?
It’s up to you to lead an effective and proactive career. Build the mindset to thrive in your industry, and do everything you can to get there. Don’t make sales based on another employee, and definitely, don’t build your goals based on someone else.
Find a mentor
This is never a bad idea.
Doing a little bit of research and finding someone you look up to professionally can only be a benefit.
This will allow you to take the time to talk to someone who you look up to, and who’s been doing an excellent job in the industry for a long time. You don’t even have to pick someone that’s in the real estate industry. You can choose a mentor who you find insightful and inspiring! Someone who you look up to on various platforms.
Having someone to look up to personally and professionally can keep you on a path to success.
At the end of the day, you bring yourself success. Build a life, business, and career that fosters this kind of growth, and take your success into your own hands.
