People naturally want to follow a leader.
In every aspect of life, people venture towards someone who is leading them to success or even a better understanding of who they are.
In the world of Real Estate, you’ll be perceived as a leader to your clients. They are looking at you to help them sell and list their home because you’re the expert in the industry.
When looking for a real estate agent, people will immediately look for someone who has experience, is knowledgeable and is paving the way in their community.
With that in mind, consider whether or not you have the qualities needed to be a strong leader everyone wants to follow.
1. Being a Good Listener
A key component of being a good leader is actually taking the time to listen to what your leads need. Selling a home is scary for some people. Remembering that its one of the biggest decisions a person will ever make is really important.
When meeting clients for the first time, remember that it’s not all about the sale. Take time to listen to what they’re needing during this process, their fears and their ideal outcome. Leaders don’t hide – and are available for any kind of communication and interaction.
Being attentive in the early stages of interacting with a client will dictate how the professional relationship will be moving forward. Take the time to listen and give your leads a real voice in this process. Remember, don’t just treat them like a sale – treat them like a person.
2. Have Confidence
People often glom onto people who are confident. They are connected to those who demonstrate a strong sense of self, purpose, and knowledge.
When initially interacting with your real estate leads, make sure you provide them with a confident direction. People will be more inclined to trust someone who had confidence in what they want to do and how they want to do it, rather than someone who is hesitant about their direction.
Even if you have hesitations – voice them! Confident people don’t shy away from the truth.
3. Positive Attitude
Having a positive attitude with your real estate leads, and any interaction will give people a little more confidence in who you are, and what you do.
If their house takes longer to sell than expected…no problem! Make sure you keep a positive spin on things, and always look for the brighter side of the path. People are more likely to trust someone who is incredibly positive, than someone who hangs onto the negative aspects of everything.
Always find inspiration to keep moving – and don’t let difficult scenarios frighten you. A leader knows that their goals are worth the amount of effort put into any task.
